How to Fill Your Medicine Cabinet for Your Baby
As a new parent, you have a lot on your mind, and usually are functioning on very little sleep! One way to help yourself stay calm when your baby becomes ill, is to have a well-stocked medicine cabinet.
If you're wondering what to have on hand, here are some ideas to get you started:
- Oral Antihistamine (such as diphenhydramine, aka Benadryl)
- Saline Nose Drops (Ocean, or any generic saline drops)
- Electrolyte Solution (for example, Pedialyte)
- Hydrocortisone Cream
- Antibiotic Ointment (two well-known brands are Neosporin and Bacitracin)
- Gas Reliever (Mylicon drops worked great for us!)
- Teething Gel (Ora-Gel makes a product just for babies)
These are just some ideas of items to have on hand. Do not use any of these without consulting with your pediatrician first. Always check labels, and ask your pediatrician for guidance with usage and dosing.
