Benefits of Wood Floors
I do not have wood floors in my house. I wish I did. I would not want them everywhere, as I really like having a warm carpet under my toes in my bedroom and family room. I would love to have hardwood floors in my Living Room, and Dining Room, and maybe even in my kitchen.
There are many benefits, in addition to beauty, to having hardwood floors in your home.
First, if you are like me and have allergies, hardwood floors are better for your health than are carpets. Carpets tend to hold dust mites, mold, and other allergens, which even vacuuming cannot eliminate.
Hardwood floors are easy to maintain and resistant to spills. You can generally sweep or vacuum them, or just use a wet mop. Occasionally you will want to use a professional wood floor cleaning product that is recommended for your particular type of floor.
Hardwood floors come in a variety of colors and styles. You can match the wood to the trim in your room, your furniture, or your kitchen cabinets. You can even have the floors installed in an attractive pattern.
Wood is a natural resource which is renewable and recyclable, unlike carpet, which is usually made up of man-made materials.
Wood floors are inexpensive in the long run, because you are not as likely to have to replace them as often as you would replace carpeting, tile, or linoleum-type flooring.
